Chess Training Classes 2017 – 2018

Be a part of the excitement!
The Jeeyar Educational Trust (JET) Chess Club returns for our ninth year.There is something for every level of player from Beginner to Advanced Coach Bill Moore has coached scholastic chess in Fairfax County and Loudoun County for the past 18 years Coach Moore’s teams have won multiple Virginia State Championships Several of his students have won Individual State and National Championships National Master Quentin Moore and his brother Gavin will run Blitz Tournaments for the Club.

Coach Bill Moore, who has over 15 years of experience in coaching and managing chess clubs, will be the head coach for this activity along with his son, Gavin. His students have participated in Local, State and National chess competitions, and won numerous awards. Coach will be assisted by our smart and talented youth volunteers as per the class requirements.

We are looking forward to our 9th year of:

  • 1. Creating a fun environment for students to enjoy the game of chess.
  • 2. Providing chess instruction and time for students to play against their peers.
  • 3. Building self-esteem.
  • 4. Increasing attention span and problem-solving skills.
  • 5. Showing the importance of planning.
  • 6. Maintaining over-the-board and online chess ratings for all club members.
  • 7. Encouraging players to participate in local chess tournaments.

Who can participate?

 

Anyone age 4 and above. Based on skill level, Coach will teach basic principles, tactics, and how to record game moves.
