"E:ka:dasi is a favourable day of the Supreme Lord and for the same reason, it
is also called "Hari Vasaram". Among all, Bhishma E:ka:dasi, which falls in
Sukla Paksha of Ma:gha maasam has greater importance. On the day of Bhishma
E:ka:dasi, for the benefit of mankind, the Great warrior, Scholar and humble
devotee, 'Bhishmacharya' preached Vishnu Sahasrana:ma to the world in the
presence of Lord Sri Krishna. As it was imparted from a great acharya chosen by
Lord Himself, Sri Vishnu Sahasrana:ma is considered the essence of Githa and all
the Vedas."
