Protect the Earth Challenge For Kids
"Protect the Earth Challenge for Kids" is designed to educate our youth and kids to conserve natural and man-made resources and understand the importance of a "Cleaner and Greener Earth".
The following are a list of activities our kids and youth can follow and make a note of them. The most active participant will be rewareded.

Protect the Earth Challenge For Adults

Facts About Earth
  • Earth's surface area is approximately 196,935,000 square miles.
  • Earth surfaces is made of 70% water (ocean) and 30% land.
  • Earth's Circumference is 24,901.5 miles.
  • The lowest point is the Dead Sea at 1,302 feet below sea level.
  • The Earth's diameter is approximately 8,000 miles.
  • In total water 3% is fresh water and 97% salt water.
  • Earth's age is 3 to 5 billion years.
  • From outer space, Earth's atmosphere combined with the oceans make the planet look blue. That is why it is often referred to as the Blue Planet.
  • Earth's area is estimated at approximately 200 million square miles.
  • Earth's axis creates the seasons. The planet is tipped at 231/2 degrees, in orbit.
  • Food grows on only 11% of Earth's surface. As farmland is used for housing developments and roads, this number is decreasing.

Per day - 4.4 pounds(2kg)
Per week – 29 pounds ( 13kg)
Per year – 1600 pounds ( 726 kg)
Paper Waster 35 percent of  total material filling up the landfills?

What can we do with the garbage produced in America in a year?

  1. You could form a line of filled-up garbage trucks and reach the MOON.
  2. Cover the STATE of TEXAS 2 and 1/2 times
  3. Bury more than 990,000 football fields under six-foot high (1.8 meter high)

Let’s all come together and make a joint effort in living a healthier lifestyle to pass on a "Cleaner earth and Greener Earth "to our kids and to protect our "Mother Earth".


Please follow the activities listed in the Earthy Day Challenge Activity worksheet (For Adults and Kids) and note the experiences.

Please submit your entries and worksheets by April 13 2008 to your nearest PRAJNA Center co-coordinator or email it to srikaryam@jetwashingtondc.org.


The most active participants will
rewareded and also we will invite them to share their experiences of the fulfillment that they felt in adopt these little activities in the last one month.
